Bikes, Bridges and Bread – Photos
If you’re ever in Vancouver be sure to do these three things: ride a bike around Stanley Island, or if you can’t work out a bike, just go over and walk around, next visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, a very swingy adventure in the tops of the trees, and lastly, head down to the edge of town to Granville Market which is quite simply a visual orgasm of food and colors.
Up first, a GoPro version of our ride around Stanley Island:
Next, our exciting afternoon swinging in the trees at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.
Originally built in 1889, Capilano Suspension Bridge stretches 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above Capilano River. Since then much has been added to the twenty-seven acre park. CLIFFWALK is the park’s newest attraction – a cantilevered walkway clinging to the granite cliff high above Capilano Canyon. Treetops Adventure, seven suspension bridges through the evergreens taking you up to 100 feet (30m) above the forest floor, offers a unique squirrel’s eye perspective of the forest.

Lastly, Granville Island Public Market. We bought some amazing scallops for dinner that night and a famous Nanaimo Bar for dessert. But the best part was that we were chosen as the special customer of the day by the bread stand which won us a free loaf of bread. At the advice of a few jealous bystanders we picked the most expensive loaf they make, Blueberry Hazelnut. Delicious!
Go on, you deserve a little temptation.
If Granville Island is the king of Vancouver destinations, then the Public Market is the jewel in the Island’s crown. A fascinating assortment of colourful stalls, showcasing unique homemade products and the very finest in gastronomic delights. All fresh from the ocean, the oven or the field. Try closing your eyes right now and imagine the rich aromas permeating from the lavish displays. Shimmering seafood, warm baked goods, plump fruit.
Okay, stop. That’s enough torture. Come and browse
for yourself and see just why words don’t begin to describe it.
Ugh….my bucket list is growing longer and longer with every post. Maybe I should take myself off your mailing list. 😉 NAH!
You are looking happier, younger, and more relaxed with each blog post. 🙂
